Stoa has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email, or phone number, and we do not know who you are.
Everything you write stays on your device. Your journal entries are stored locally and are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We cannot read them.
We do not use advertising, tracking, or analytics services, and we do not sell or share personal information.
Stoa: Stoic Wisdom & Journal ("Stoa", "the app") is published by Lead Logger LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with information when you use it. It applies to the iOS app only.
To be explicit, because the absence matters more than the presence here. Stoa does not collect, request, or access:
Stoa contains no advertising, no analytics SDK, no attribution or crash-reporting service, and no social media integrations.
The following is written to Stoa's private storage area on your device. It is not transmitted to us and we have no ability to retrieve it.

This data is protected by iOS's built-in file protection, which ties it to your device passcode. It is not synced to iCloud by the app. If you back up your device, your backup may include this data under Apple's terms, and its protection is governed by your backup settings.
The Stoic passages themselves ship inside the app. Reading them requires no network connection and generates no record anywhere but your own device.
Stoa uses one third-party service: Superwall, which displays our subscription screen and handles the purchase flow.
When you finish setup, Stoa sends Superwall your answers to the eight setup questions so the subscription screen can reflect what you told us. These are fixed multiple-choice answers, not free text. They cover: what brought you to the app, what time of day you struggle, how often you act on emotion, whether you have journaled before, what stopped you previously, how many minutes a day you can commit, what you want to be true in ninety days, and which Stoic writer appeals to you.
Your journal writing is never sent to Superwall or to anyone else. Neither is any name, email address, or device identifier that we generate. Superwall assigns its own anonymous identifier to your installation; we do not link it to a real-world identity, because we do not hold one.
Superwall processes this on our behalf as a service provider. Their handling of it is governed by Superwall's privacy policy.
Subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. We never see or handle your payment details. Card numbers, billing addresses, and Apple ID credentials go to Apple and never reach us or our service provider.
The app is told only whether an active subscription exists, and which product and price applies, so it can unlock the right features and tell you when a free trial is due to convert. Payment processing is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
If you allow notifications, Stoa schedules them locally on your device. We do not operate a push server, and your device's notification token is never registered or transmitted. That means no one, including us, can send you a message remotely.
The app schedules two kinds of reminder: one before a free trial converts to a paid subscription, so a charge does not surprise you, and one shortly after you close the app having seen the subscription screen. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings, and the app will keep working.
Because your writing lives only on your device, you control all of it directly:
Deletion is immediate and permanent. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and no way for us to restore anything.
To ask about the setup answers held by our service provider, contact us using the details below and we will act on your request.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
In practice these rights are largely satisfied by the design of the app: we hold no identifiable data about you, and the content you create never leaves your device. Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, our lawful basis for sending setup answers to Superwall is our legitimate interest in presenting a relevant subscription offer; for notifications, it is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time in iOS Settings.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used under California law.
Stoa is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The app does not ask for anyone's age or date of birth. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will address it.
Your journal content is held in the app's private storage and protected by the encryption iOS applies to your device when it is locked with a passcode. Keeping a passcode enabled, and keeping iOS up to date, is the most effective protection for what you write. Traffic between the app and our service provider is encrypted in transit.
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our service provider and Apple may process information on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, make it apparent in the app. Continuing to use Stoa after an update means you accept the revised policy.
